Want students to book their own lessons? MakeMusic Studio makes it easy to offer online booking for private lessons, trial lessons, group classes, and more.
If you prefer to schedule all lessons yourself, you don't need to set up online booking.
First, Choose How Students Will Book
MakeMusic Studio offers two ways for students to book lessons:
1-Click Booking — For existing students
Students can book their usual lesson using the duration and billing you've already set up for them. There's no need to create a separate Service.
Services Booking — For specific lessons or offerings
Create bookable Services for things like:
Trial lessons or meet-and-greets
Individual lessons with different durations or prices
Group classes and workshops
Other appointments you want to offer online
Students can select a Service, choose an available time, and complete the booking.
Note: Students can book individual lessons, but they cannot create their own recurring lesson schedules or purchase subscriptions through online booking.
Step 1: Configure Your Booking Settings
Go to Booking → Settings to customize how students book with you.
You can choose:
Auto-confirm: Automatically confirm bookings or review requests first.
Payment at Booking: Require payment when a student books.
Reminders: Send automatic SMS reminders before lessons.
Future Booking: Limit how far ahead students can book.
Scheduling Blackout: Prevent last-minute bookings.
Availability Intervals: Offer start times every 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
Registration: Allow new students to register and answer custom questions.
Auto-Remove Cancellations: Free up canceled time slots for other students.
You can also set your cancellation policy and booking preferences.
Step 2: Create Your Services (Optional)
Skip this step if your existing students will only use 1-Click Booking.
To offer additional lessons or services:
Go to Booking → Appointments or Classes.
Click + Add.
Enter the Service name, duration, location, and available teachers.
Choose the price and payment options.
Save and Publish your Service.
You can also add a photo and custom registration questions.
How Does Payment Work?
When creating a Service, you can choose Accept packages or subscriptions for payment.
This allows existing students to use an eligible package or subscription they already have to pay for that lesson.
For example, if you offer a $50 private lesson:
A student with an eligible package or subscription can use it toward the lesson.
A student without one pays the $50 Service price.
Important: Students cannot purchase or set up their own recurring subscriptions through online booking. You'll need to set those up for them.
Tip: Unpublished Services remain private and aren't available for public booking.
Step 3: Set Your Booking Availability
Next, tell MakeMusic Studio when you and your teachers are available.
Go to Calendar.
Select the teacher, if you have multiple staff members.
Click Edit Availability → Default Hours.
Choose the days, times, and locations available for booking.
Save your changes.
You can also add temporary hours or block time off for vacations and other commitments.
Important: If you don't set availability, students won't see any available booking times. Make sure your availability location matches the lesson or Service location.
Step 4: Share Your Booking Link
Ready to accept bookings?
Go to Booking → Booking Link to copy your studio's booking page.
You can share it on your website, social media, or directly with students.
You can also embed your booking options into your website.
Tip: Open your booking link in a private or incognito browser window to see what new students will experience.
Frequently Asked Questions

Can students book a time that's already taken?

Can new students book without creating an account?
Yes, for Services configured with No Charge. They'll still provide their contact information and receive appointment reminders.
Can I ask students questions when they book?
Yes! Add custom questions to individual Services, or create registration questions for new students under Booking Settings.
Why aren't any available times showing?
Check that you've set booking availability for the correct teacher and location. Also make sure the Service is published and your booking restrictions aren't preventing the requested time.
